DATELINE: Demolition Magazine - March/April 2000 issue: ROSE-GRP.COM Now Online!
-
When asked about how his company can help give fellow NADC members a competitive “edge”, Eugene Rose, President said, “We have the resources to produce the hidden values our Clients might not see. Some companies recognize the values, but they probably are correctly focusing on their core competency: demolition.”
Celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2000, The Rose Group offers an unusually unique package of services and has worked with many NADC members.
“A thorough understanding of how the demolition industry works coupled with finding the potential values on our Clients’ projects is what creates our success” adds Rose.
Interestingly however, the success of the company is directly linked to that which it creates for its Clients.
The company provides various services including Demolition Investment Recovery Services (DIR) and Demolition/Environmental Consulting. Coordination of maximizing potential values simultaneously with demolition projects on critical path timelines has become a Rose Group specialty. The company is completely different from dealers and auctioneers in the sense that it doesn’t ‘buy-low, sell-high’ and it markets Client assets globally over the time period its Clients have to work within. “By never taking title to an Owner’s assets our company is 100% aligned with the Client employing us. We prosper only if our Clients do” notes Jerry Simeroth, a company Project Manager.
In the demolition business, safety, environmental and timing issues all come into play. Understanding and respect of these issues has been another differentiating factor Rose cites.
“We act as a virtual ‘workforce extension’ of the companies who employ us. Knowing the job-specific issues they are dealing with allows us to present recoverable assets to buyers in the most desirable fashion” he adds.
Simeroth recently completed a Demolition Investment Recovery project at the Procter & Gamble Tide Detergent Plant in Cincinnati. The work was done with NADC member-company, MCM Management from Detroit.
The Rose Group provided estimated values of assets to MCM as part of the bid process and nearly doubled their estimate in the real value actually produced. Rose and Simeroth located many end-users for the process and packaging equipment to which they attribute much of the additional value created to.
Similar DIR projects are underway or have been recently completed with other NADC member-companies: AWS Construction Services, Ace Demolition, The Berg Corporation and Brandenburg Industrial Service Company.
New & Improved! – ROSE-GRP.COM
Recently, The Rose Group completely revamped its website. The site, rose-grp.com includes a continuously updated database of Client assets for sale, sealed bid offerings and company information. According to Rose, this is just another tool in helping produce exposure of his Clients’ assets. But Rose has additional plans for the website too.
Demolition Contractors are an important demographic group to The Rose Group. Other Rose customers have included Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft Foods, Safeway, Inc., Deluxe Corporation and others.
“We always want to try to give more than just ‘good service’ to our customers” says Rose. “Rose-grp.com will feature a ‘Client of The Month’ which will give exposure of our demolition contractor Clients to a broad market. This strategy makes sense because anything that brings more business to our Clients will bring more business to us – we are long-term-relationship based.”
One of the benefits here is to provide web-exposure to NADC members who might not otherwise have a presence on the web. For featured companies having their own websites established, Rose plans on providing direct website links to those sites. The potential for cross-marketing between Rose’s demolition and non-demolition Clients should benefit all, according to Rose.
People from various industries worldwide will visit the website and can view a Rose Group featured Client. “If two of my Clients are able to work together, I’m happy,” observes Rose “I feel like a matchmaker!”
NADC-member Ace Demolition is the first featured company on the website. When asked his opinion on the matter, Ace President, Sol Gross commented “The Rose Group has changed the way the demolition business is done. Our association is a great business alliance.”
Commenting on his Clients, Rose says, “Demolition Contractors are some of the last great businesspeople left in this country. Most of them don’t need committees to decide how best to enhance the value of their business. It is a privilege to work with such forward-thinking entrepreneurs. The Demolition Investment Recovery services we provide add value directly to our Clients’ bottom-line; I’ve found they appreciate this.”
